Since 1987, Matisse has worked hand-in-hand with our valued customers, the design community and our suppliers – over time, realising the powerful impact of ‘place’ in the community.

We recognise how vital it is to allow our customer’s investment to evolve over time by offering ‘future proofed’ solutions and services. Future proofing at Matisse means we want designs that can be used and adapted over a lifetime then handed on – to last generations rather than years.

To do this, the design must be authentic and original, be built to last, utilise sustainable resources and be thought of as an investment, not just a luxury.

This approach has transformed Matisse from a traditional furniture dealer to a long-term partner committed to the customers we serve.

Environment

Matisse is committed to achieving excellence in all our environmental practices. This is reflected in our environmental objective to – ‘seek environmental improvements in all aspects of our business including energy efficiency enhancements and waste reduction opportunities across our business.’

Guiding Principles for our Office and Warehouse REUSE: Using the same item more than once and extending the useful life of products and equipment via appropriate maintenance, ensure all products are durable, have a long service life and are easy to maintain and upgrade - for example our service to find a new home for any classic furniture purchased from us over the years is available to all our clients.

REDUCE: Purchases shall only be made when required and of the amount needed, purchases that reduce the use of materials/resources will be favoured - for example, products that have minimal packaging or printers that print double sided. We also encourage our clients to purchase modern furniture classics that will last over several. generations rather than a few years.

RECYCLE: Purchase products that are recycled or re-manufactured or contain recycled materials or that can be recycled or re-manufactured.
