Born in Cantù, Italy, in 1967, he pursued studies at IPSIA G. Meroni in Lissone, focusing on furniture and design technology. In 1990, he graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from the European Institute of Design in Milan.

Throughout his career, Ballabio collaborated with prominent design studios, including working with Paola Nava and later serving as a senior designer under Paola Navone. In partnership with Alessandro Elli, he co-designed the "Escher" coffee table for Emmemobili, which was showcased at the Milan Triennial international exhibition in 2004 as part of the "Città Infinita" (City of Infinity) exhibition.

Since 2011, Ballabio has held the position of Product Development Director and Designer at Porada, an esteemed Italian furniture manufacturer. His designs are celebrated for their elegance and functionality, contributing significantly to Porada's contemporary collections.
