Objects designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni often take their names from their shape (the Imbuto or funnel lamp), their image (the Monachella lamp from a nun’s veil) or the people who inspired them (the Catilina armchair) but here workmanship lies at the heart of the project.
Fasce Cromate offers mirrored metal in the place of a lacquer or varnish finish to cover the core material. The irony here is in uncovering what is generally hidden to create a new and unknown object. The glass table top is offset by the chrome rim creating reflections and transparency in the geometric planes and surfaces. Once again Luigi Caccia Dominioni is deliberately stimulating our senses with this truly innovative piece that pushes design to new horizons.
