• Valencian-born Fran Silvestre came to be on July 5th, 1976. He is a PHD awarded architect specializing in urban planning.

After having graduated in Architecture with honors at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valencia in 2001, Fran Silvestre specialized in urban planning at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven a year later, obtaining the highest grade. He opened his first architecture studio sixteen years ago, after working in Porto alongside one of the greats, Álvaro Siza. At the time, he was also close to Andrés Alfaro Hofmann, another interior designer with over twenty years professional experience.

Fran Silverstre knew what he wanted to do from being a small child as he used to build lots of things. He came from a family of engineers, Valentín Silvestre, his great grandfather, was a hugely creative, renowned engineer and inventor in his day. Solidified in their aligned views, they developed the idea of establishing a studio.

During this time in 2005, Silvestre stood in a teaching role. Once the studio was established, the work in the office was only possible thanks to their team.

Silvestre would’ve preferred not to use his name for the studio and instead highlight what everyone else does, but it "just happened that way".

All the architectural projects at the studio aim to find pureness of form through a language which, like a grammar of architecture, tends towards a systematization of the process. It’s less to do with style, which would be calligraphy, but rather concept. A series of forms or pieces that through internal experimentation lead to other projects.

Silvestre likes to geometrize when designing, and sculpting gives him the freedom to investigate and move forward. His biggest influence comes from the sculptor Andreu Alfaro. The architectural approach in his sculptures is an inspiration for Silvestre's projects. He also finds great ideas in day-to-day life, nature and natural areas of water.

"Every project is a challenge to us, and we see it from different perspectives: the use of new materials, new technology and new uses to improve people’s lives. Innovation based on experience and improving tradition. "
