Maltese born, Gordon Guillaumier was educated in Malta, Switzerland, England and Italy.
In 1991 he graduated in industrial design at the IED in Milan and the following year obtained a master’s degree in industrial design at the Domus Academy in Milan.
From the onset of his career, Gordon has collaborated as senior designer with Rodolfo Dordoni from 1992 to 1995 and Driade from 1995-1998, assisting Enrico Astori with the new design collections. Since 1999 Gordon has worked as a freelance designer and in 2002 he founded Studio Gordon Guillaumier in Milan, a multi-disciplinary design studio focussed on products, interiors, architecture, stand displays and consulting.
As a designer, Gordon’s work encompasses a vast range of product typologies, from indoor to outdoor furniture, lighting, ceramics, hardware, carpets, tableware and objects, collaborating with high ranking Italian and international design brands such as Minotti, Lema, Moroso, Roda, Thonet, Tacchini, Desalto, Driade, Oluce, Foscarini, DeSede, Frag, Bosa, Paola C, Ceramiche Piemme, Azzurra to name a few.
A selection of his products have received important awards as recognition of his designs; ADI Design Index 2007 + 2001, Interzum 2011, Wallpaper Design Award 2014, ADI XXIV 2016 Compasso d’Oro, ADI Design Ceramic Award, Archiproducts Design Award 2016 + 2018, NYCxDESIGN Awards 2019. His works often feature in the international and local design press.
As an art director, Gordon has developed creative strategies for some leading Italian design brands like Desalto, Dornbracht Interiors, Pamar and Ceramiche Piemme. Since 2006 he is working on the art direction of Roda’s brand in team with Rodolfo Dordoni.
Together with his architectural and interior design team, Gordon has developed a series of projects ranging from prestigious private residential villas in Sicily and restaurant interiors, which in recent years has enriched the spectrum of creativity. These projects have been reviewed in prestigious international magazines and published in books.
Gordon has been invited to lecture at the faculty of Industrial Design at the Milan Politecnico and as a visiting design professor at the Abadir Design Academy in Catania.
