Kymo Carpets

First founded as the limited company GmbH in 2005, Kymo introduces their passion for diverse colors and modern appeal. By 2007, their brand boutique was launched into the contemporary design sector providing tailored pieces for acclaimed projects such as Nespresso and Mercedes-Benz.  An entry into the 2008 leading furniture fair IMM Cologne resulted in a Red Dot Design award. Kymo has gone on to receive numerous acclaims including the 2009 Good Design Award, 2011 iF Design award, and German Design Award. Expanding across international dealers in 2012, Kymo has produced copious stunning Floorwear® designs and developed a substantial network in commercial projects.

Matisse shares recently arrived Kymo carpets and Floorwear® including Marble, Mark 2 Polysilk, Obsidian, and SG Airy Premium. Born from Mother Nature, the stone texture of Marble displays shimmering shapes, an interplay on light and coloring of precious stones. Mark 2 is stylish, yet grungy, created with fine kSilk yarn  for a uniquely vintage look. Obsidian is conceptualized through the birth of a new element. Hand-tufted pure New Zealand wool recalls where molten lava meets the sea and shiny contrasting edges form a distinctively volcanic surface. SG Airy Premium, like the entire Kymo range, embodies the definition of lounge. An easy grace of fine polyester threads shimmer in an elaborate color effect, its voluminous appearance gives off a sense of airiness and joy.

Kymo's latest Retro Lounge collection is made by hand using the finest New Zealand wool and flokati. Inspired by the 90s DJ group Retro Lounge Crew, Kymo combines the sumptuous extravagance of a private retro party with authentic naturality. Kymo carpets are unique both in their concepts and in their process. This collection is undyed white wool, allowing the varying organic shades to be at the forefront of the design. In the final step of the process, each rug has been specially treated with stream twists, this ensures the longevity and strength of the rug’s fibers.

Recently, Kymo displayed a new collection of designer rugs at the Salone Del Mobile 2022, including sustainable wool rugs, organic design shape rugs, outdoor rugs, and additions to their existing wide range of colour options.

The traditionally large scale of the Milan Furniture Fair provided a platform to display many exciting new pieces. Inspired by the beauty of the desert, Kymo’s sustainable wool rugs: Moroccan Nomad and Moroccan Rose, captivate the searing wilderness of the desert. The colors, naturally occurring from the selection of the wool, catapulted these rugs into high demand; sustainably made and available in four different shades.

The Furniture Fair also highlighted the organic design rug SHAPES. A robust construction teamed with a design reminiscing a bird’s eye view of human agriculture, SHAPES is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Superflat, like Shape, is also suitable for interior and exterior environments. Superflat is a direct reference to its hand-woven thin construction. While its flatness means less drying time, this particular carpet also has a water-saving production, is easily recyclable, UV-resistant, and is available in 8 different colors.
