  • Mario Cananzi and Roberto Semprini are renowned Italian designers and architects whose creative partnership began in the late 1980s.

Mario Cananzi studied architecture at the University of Florence, earning his degree in 1985 with a thesis on motorcycle design, then completed a master’s in industrial design at Milan’s Domus Academy in 1989. He has worked with leading manufacturers such as Edra, Bonacina, Disform, Punt Mobles, Sawaya & Moroni, and collaborated with major motorcycle brands (Piaggio, Yamaha, KTM, Aprilia). Cananzi has also received accolades like the 1992 Forum Design Prize and the 1993 DuPont Top Ten award for his "Tatlin" sofa.

Roberto Semprini also studied architecture in Florence, and during his time in Milan worked as a freelance journalist for design publications, including Modo, Vogue Italia, L’Atelier, and Ardi. He has designed for brands like Alivar, Contempo, Fiam, Guzzini, Moroso, Pedrali, and Edra. Semprini's work has been recognized by awards including the Young & Design prize in 1994 for his "Manta" table.

Together, their signature creation is the Tatlin Sofa (also known as Tatlin Diamond), a sculptural postmodern piece crafted for Edra in 1989. Inspired by Vladimir Tatlin’s constructivist tower, the sofa features organic, spiral forms upholstered in lush velvet or even Swarovski crystals. It won the Top Ten prize in Düsseldorf and has become an iconic collectible, showcased in prestigious outlets and auctions
