Miniforms, a playful family-run Italian brand, presents an artisanal sense of joy with their latest collaboration alongside Greek designer and creative Yiannis Ghikas.

Soda is a voluminous blown-glass side table, carefully handcrafted from the unparalleled value of Murano glass. Originating from the highly skilled artisans in the Italian island of Murano has come a series of contemporary classical lighting as well as the established mushroom lamp. Now, Soda’s multidimensional shape and distinct material is recognized by numerous awards including the 2021 Dezeen Award, where the judges acclaimed:
“This is a great example of simplicity in design. The material has a poetic quality, and out of all the pieces we’ve seen, this is the most innovative and surprising.”
The design stems from a single volume of glass with three large petals weighing 20 kilos. The layers of glass overlap, morphing the shape and perspective of light that passes through the transparent coloring. Available in two sizes and four charming colors: Amber blown glass, Blue blown glass, Amethyst blown glass, and Petrol Green blown glass, the hand hammered surface fragments cite where art meets industrial design.
The process begins with 3 main ingredients of glass, one of which inspires the name. Tour-de-force is blown, drawn out, and shaped by a trio of master glassmakers. Before making their way into a complex system of burners, the technically difficulties of handling the glass texture are overcome by expertise, keeping the temperature consistent throughout the mould produces a stunning transparent object.
