The Latin for furniture, res mobiles, is based on the word mobile. Eileen Gray took this very literally. She loved light, functional furniture that could be moved around easily. One can lift this table "for all occasions" as if it had a handle and carry it exactly to where one needs it. Like the Adjustable Table E 1027, it is constructed with a base that slides under the bedside or armchair. Thus breakfast or bedtime reading is within comfortable reach.

Designer
Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. ClassiCon produces her iconic furniture designs as the sole and rightful licensee worldwide, in coordination with Aram Designs Ltd., London.
