Designed by Verner Panton in collaboration with Vitra, the Panton Chair made design history when it entered production in 1967 as the first cantilever chair manufactured from a single material in one continuous piece. Unveiled publicly at the 1968 imm Furniture Fair in Cologne, its fluid sculptural form quickly became an icon of its era.
The limited-edition Panton Chair Classic Gold transforms this landmark design with a dazzling, mirror-like metallic finish. Its distinctive surface is achieved through an intricate metallisation process, embedding fine metal particles within multiple layers of varnish. Engineered to accommodate the subtle movement of the cantilevered form, the resilient coating also provides enhanced resistance to scratching.
Several stages of the elaborate production process are completed by hand, bringing a meticulous level of craftsmanship to Panton’s revolutionary design.
Limited to 999 pieces worldwide.
