He graduated in 1981 from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm where he studied architecture. He also graduated with a diploma in architecture Work Experience. For a few years he worked as an architect at AOS Architects in Stockholm. He did various projeits for clients like Virgin, Sandrews Theatres, Zorn Museum, Posthuset and Swedish Embassy in Madrid.

In addition to furniture design and an architecture studio, Eriksson is also one of the owners of the design studio Stockholm Design Lab. In recent years their high profile projects have included e.g. new visual identities for the Nobel Prize and Scandinavian Airlines. In 1988 he founded Thomas Eriksson Architects (TEA). TEA works within a wide range of projects in different scales. Today Thomas is Chief Executive Officer at TEA.
